The Electoral College is an outdated institution that no longer serves a purpose in the United States. The citizens of the United States need the ability to cast a vote for a Presidential candidate and have it count for that candidate. The individual shall not be punished for living in a state that is overwhelmingly partisan and that does not share his or her personal views. The Electoral College only disenfranchiszes the solitary voter; rendering the individual vote as meaningless. The Electoral College has run its course and it is time for every solitary vote to count. Eliminating the EC will create a system that will embolden the individual to actively participate in the democratic process.
