The electoral college leads to an outcome in the election process that does not necessarily reflect the true wishes of the people. Determining the presidency with a popular vote would allow all Americans to have an equal say in who becomes the president.
While some argue that the system is fairer for the states, the system actually places an unfair emphasis on certain states, allowing residents in those states to have a larger say in the ultimate outcome of an election than residents in other states.
Not only would a popular vote allow each and every American to have an equal say in elections, it would simplify the voting process, making the election far more straightforward and simpler to understand than it is currently. The electoral college is an outdated system. We must end it.
