The United States embargo against Cuba is a decades-old relic of the cold war era. Serving neither the people of the United States nor Cuba, it is a hindrance to prosperity in the modern world.
Ending the trade embargo against Cuba would create jobs through the introduction of a new market and stimulate the economy through trade of currently unobtainable goods.
Beyond the obvious benefits, the original purpose of the embargo was to prevent the growth of a nearby soviet ally during the cold war. This threat no longer exists, the trade restrictions no longer serve any useful purpose, and the embargo should be ended.
