The US' embargo of Cuba is so loosely maintained today that it has become more of a nuisance than anything else. Both President Obama and Raul Castro have made reforms which have bettered our relations, and the US Interests Sections Havana while not technically an embassy performs all the functions of one, only under the legal protection of the Swiss, and Cuba is represented in Washington in the same way. Besides this the U.S. has historically had no problem in having relations with communists. Both Khrushchev and Gorbachev, came to the U.S. and relations between the two superpowers was bettered for a time. Today the U.S. owes much of its debt to China, a communist nation. So given these facts, and many more the embargo is no longer necessary and should be lifted.
