The United States embargo against Cuba is a commercial, economic, and financial embargo against Cuba and it restricts United States citizens' movement to Cuba.
The embargo started in 1960 for the purpose of forcing Cuba to democratize itself, respect human rights, and move away from communism.
Today, more than 50 years after the embargo started it didn't meet any of its goals. All that it did is harm the Cuban people, the embargo caused prices to rise, jobs to be lost, and it bans American citizens from traveling to many beautiful places in Cuba.
Ending the embargo will create opportunities for trade in both countries and will improve living conditions in Cuba.
