The US Government should recognize the Cuban embargo is not effective and should repeal it because:
- Lifting the embargo would create a new market for American services and goods just 90 miles from our shores, thus helping the US economy
- We economically punish Cuba for their political oppression but reward other regimes like China. This is hypocritical.
- Allowing US tourists to Cuba would help prosthelytize democracy. Why not have US citizens themselves tell Cubans how wonderful our political system is?
- Most Americans now oppose the embargo. It's an arcane policy from the cold war days.
- It obviously doesn't work since both Castro brothers are still there! Doesn't it make sense to look at alternative methods to push for democracy after 50+ years of this failed policy?
