Following the Cuban Revolution of 1959, relations deteriorated substantially and have been marked by tension and confrontation since. Fifty-three years later, the US Policy on Cuba has done little to change their minds.
It is time for the United States to re-evaluate the position it holds in regards to Cuba and to remove the restrictions placed upon the sovereign nation. We should be pursuing a policy of peace and mutual benefit for both nations.
Cuba could greatly benefit from it's neighbor to the North and simultaneously, the United States would gain a stronger tie to other Caribbean, Latin, and South American nations who have called upon the US to end the embargo and restrictions.
Let us begin a new era and restore relations to Cuba and our Southern Neighbors!
