End employment credit checks

This petition is an effort to create more protections for job seekers that have been effected by the economic downturn. More than half of employers report using credit reports as a means to making hiring decisions. Students, minorities, and the economically disadvantaged are finding it increasingly difficult to rebound from financial crises as a result of these checks. In order for the unemployed to obtain jobs, legislators are going to have to change the way employers are making hiring decisions. It creates a catch 22 for job seekers. As a result of a financial upset or lack of employment, they fall behind on bills. Subsequently, they cannot find suitable employment to reestablish their credit worthiness.
