End employment discrimination against tobacco users.

Created by R.M. on May 12, 2014

Employers in 21 states can currently discriminate against tobacco users, based on a lack of legislation protecting smokers. Only 29 states and the District of Columbia have laws that protect smokers' rights in terms of employment.

Smoking is a lifestyle choice. This bias sets a precedent which allows employers to discriminate against other "harmful," yet legal lifestyle choices, such as consuming alcohol, eating unhealthy foods, etc.

There are too many ramifications of allowing employers to discriminate against potential employees due to legal lifestyle choices. This discrimination and invasion of privacy has to be stopped before it gets out of control. End employer discrimination toward tobacco users.
