Under Employment-at-will, employees can be fired at any time for any reason, including no reason, or reasons which are completely false or irrelevant.
Many Americans are unaware that this is legal in 49 states. Your boss can fire you for the color of your shirt, the type of food you eat, or a false accusation that shot JFK. This is perfectly legal. You can even be fired because your boss was in the mood to fire you.
Most of us agree that is an extremely unjust labor practice, but it is virtually never discussed by our government. Time for this issue to be brought to light.
