Mr. President,
In 2013, 26,000 men and women were raped, sexually assaulted, or sexually harassed while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. But these service members don’t have access to an impartial justice system like the one they sacrifice their lives to protect for all Americans.
Because of a military justice system that is biased against victims, military rape survivors often face retaliation and are denied the care they need and the justice they deserve.
As part of the growing chorus of civilians, service members, commanders, survivors and Members of Congress speaking out on this issue, we call on you to use your power, as President and as Commander in Chief, to reform the broken justice system so that it is impartial, fair and responsive for survivors of military sexual assault.
