I planned on writing a grandiose essay on why technological innovation needs to continue within America to ensure economic dominance throughout the rest of the 21st century, however 800 character limits force brevity.
The current monopoly established in favor of regional cable carriers removed competition. This allowed stagnation in a time of great growth worldwide. American internet speeds fail to crack the top twenty world's fastest. America ranks far behind countries like Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, and Bulgaria. I chose these countries because they're all former Soviet bloc countries we make fun of in our pop culture as backward in nature.
If we hope to compete in the future, this needs to change. I urge us to incentivize fiber deployment nationwide to help build the future.
