All the tax-subsidized corn syrup in our nation's food is causing epidemics of obesity and diabetes, and may also be increasing autism rates, all of which is creating a huge medical expense burden. Monsanto certainly doesn't need our money.
Also, the corn damages the soil so more fertilizer is needed.
Besides the corn subsidies, taxpayers are also paying subsidies for unused farmland, discouraging the production of any other crops. A lot more food would be produced without government intervention.
Corn Ethanol is also a terrible idea. More gasoline is used to run the farm equipment than the ethanol produced, making it anything but the green energy it is advertised as. We could reduce or possibly eliminate our dependence on foreign oil by NOT encouraging ethanol production.
