As a gay American not recognizing my marriage isn't the only way my government discriminates against me. It also says my blood isn't good enough to save the lives of my fellow citizens based on outdated and often fear-based reasoning. It is time for a change.
"The lifetime ban on blood donation for men who have sex with men is discriminatory and not based on sound science" according to William Kobler, MD who is an American Medical Association Board of Trustees member.
This change has the support of a number of legislators as documented in the included link.
