The Federal Reserve's quasi-public/private status does not make sense to me. The institution should be disbanded and its power vested back into the Department of the Treasury, which is a fully American government-backed institution that was originally granted oversight of the country's ability to coin money.
It's unbearable to think that the very banks that lend to our countrymen also have a hand in the control of the money supply. We need to restore some common sense to our nation's economic policy. No better place to start than shutting down this shameful institution.
