End Foreign Aid to Africa

I am asking the United States Congress to stop the systematic ( Government to Government) aid into Africa. Despite humanitarian and military relief it may temporarily afford, foreign aid has hindered economic growth in Africa as a whole. Over the past sixty years over $1 trillion dollars has been sent to African nations, yet Africa is poorer today than ever before. The massive amounts of "free money" flowing into Africa has made for lazy leaders, dependent on foreign donors, and reluctant to work for their own people. Aid is also likely to go astray, due to widespread corruption among African leaders. Often, the aid is used for their own benefit and not the country people for which it was intended. Africa needs jobs, direct investment and sustainable development, not a free hand out. ​
