In 2011, when Egypt was freed from the rule of Hosni Mubarak, we all cheered. It seemed that Egypt would be a free nation, with a democratic government. It looked like the people would finally have a voice in their government. We now know, however, that this is not the case. The new Egyptian president, Mohammed Morsi, has taken control of Egypt for himself and the Muslim Brotherhood. Morsi and the Brotherhood have rewritten the constitution, instituted strict Muslim laws, and oppressed the people who elected them. In light of this information, we petition the Obama Administration to end all foreign aid, including monetary and military aid, to Egypt until Morsi gives back powers he has taken, or is removed from office.
