WHEREAS genital mutilation of female minors has been a federal offense in the United States since 1997 and taking a female minor elsewhere has been a federal offense since 2013, and
WHEREAS the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution requires that all laws apply equally to all citizens, and
WHEREAS minor males are still subjected to genital mutilation in this country at nothing more than the whims of parents, doctors, and various religious clergy.
THEREFORE BE IT PETITIONED to expand all such protections afforded to minor females to minor males via a simple amendment of all federal laws on female genital mutilation to sex-neutral language such that infants of both sexes shall be protected.
