The US Government spends about $15.4 billion per year on grain subsidies. Subsidies are wasteful and are making Americans sick.
Subsidies are corporate welfare. They go to rich corporations that do not need or deserve them.
Subsidies impoverish small and organic farmers who must compete with subsidized corporations.
Subsidies promote grain feeding of farm animals, causing:
1) omega-3 deficiency, resulting in mental illnesses (depression), heart disease & inflammatory diseases in people.
2) pathogen (E Coli 157) infection & foodborne illness. Cows are designed to eat GRASS, not corn.
Subsidies make junk food (sugar) cheap & healthy food dear. Subsidies promote obesity & diabetes.
Lets return to grass-farming, the proper healthy way to produce food.
