After the events of Fort Hood and Washington DC Naval Yard, it has become clear that not enough is being done to protect our men and women in the military while on a military installation. These brave men and women are entrusted to defend our freedom and way of life but they are not trusted to carry a personal sidearm for personal defense. It is hypocritical that military members are allowed to carry military grade assault weapons with minimal government training in an extremely stressful environment but cannot carry a personally purchased handgun while at their home station. We the People are asking the Obama administration to take the time and develop regulations that will allow members of the armed services to voluntarily open carry a personal sidearm for personal defense purposes.
