End homelessness among veterans by creating job and training opportunities and creating housing for them

Created by D.G. on September 26, 2011

Approximately 1/3 of homeless adults (one out of every three) in this country are veterans, yet veterans represent only 11% of the civilian population. On any given night 107,000 - 300,000 veterans are homeless. Based on various estimates, 500,000 - 840,000 veterans are homeless at some time during the year.

This petition is proposing a plan called, "The American Heroes Act". The American Heroes Act would create jobs for homeless veterans by giving business owners 15% tax decrease for every homeless veteran they hire and keep employed for at least 6 months.

Lastly, this petition would create housing opportunities for homeless veterans by revitalizing vacant and house in communities that have local businesses that want to hire homeless veterans.
