Huge corn subsidies encourage mono-agriculture which is harmful to our soils, increases need for use of chemicals in farming, & encourages genetically modified seed. Corn subsidies have a HUGE impact on the food we eat & the disastrous obesity problem! Have you looked at the ingredients in the grocery stores? Corn syrup, starch, & other corn-derived ingredients dominate the contents of our foods! The lower the cost, the more likely there is corn in it! Try buying basic staples like breads, dairy, & pre-made food items without a corn additive! Those with the lowest incomes & little to no health insurance are most vulnerable. Results are disastrous for the health and related costs for all citizens & our land. With the projected obesity rate, who will be left to soldier and defend our nation?
