The real cause of hunger in America is not enough food to go around. It's not enough healthy food to feed those who need it the most - the disadvantaged and poor. If there were better labeling of food items in the grocery stores, the smart consumer would stretch their food budget by selecting items that will satisfy their hunger.
Potato chips, corn chips, soft drinks, most cereals and breads have little to no nutritional value and this is what poor people tend to grab. This type of food just makes them hungrier. AND, oddly enough they are hungrier as they gain weight. There is an obesity problem in this country and it is caused by the poor food choices we have. Labeling food to give people more information about these choices will reduce hunger in America. A step forward.
