End immigration enforcement policies that criminalize and abuse migrants and their families, such as Secure Communities.

There are over 10 million undocumented immigrants in the United States today. They work, they go to school, many of them pay taxes, and their labor greatly benefits our economy. And yet, they are afforded few civil rights and live in fear because they are not provided timely, effective paths to citizenship. Naturalization takes years, and few can afford to wait 10 years to be able to send money to their families. Meanwhile, 287(g), Secure Communities, and state laws such as SB1070 are criminalizing their very presence here, catching innocent people and nonviolent criminals in an enforcement dragnet. They also legitimize counterproductive policing strategies, such as racial profiling. Obstructing immigrants' lives is no answer to the questions the problem raises. End Secure Communities!
