END THE IMPORT AND EXPORT OF ENVIRONMENTALLY UNSOUND ENERGY SOURCES INCLUDING COAL AND TAR SANDS CRUDE OIL.

Created by D.L. on January 31, 2014

Presently there are numerous pipeline projects intended to transport tar sands crude oil to deep water ports in the US including the Keystone XL and Enbridge pipelines. The present technologies for mining tar sands are creating a wasteland in central Canada polluting air, water and land. Deep water ports are required for the export of this pollution to other nations, notably China, while risking environmental disasters in the US Great Lakes and Great Plains regions.

Similarly, the US is proceeding with development of export facilities in Washington state for export of western coal. At the same time that the US is considering carbon capture at coal fired power plants, we would be shipping carbon to other nations that do not have even the most basic pollution controls.
