The purpose of income tax was to use the passive income of the wealthy to fund basic government functions. Never was it considered that someone's working wage and livelihood would be taxed.
Since its inception, the income tax has grown to encompass even the voluntary interaction between employer and employee. The argument that this money somehow comes back to us in the form of government service is moot as the federal government spends countless dollars in evermore places we don't call home.
As jobs become harder to find with automation becoming cheaper and cheaper and American imperialism as unwanted as ever, we must act now to defend each American's pursuit of happiness; specifically: his or her right to every penny he or she earns!
