Military families all over our country endure the hardships of constant moving and redeployment. Often, one of the only comforts they have are their companion animals.
Sadly, our military bases have no standardized limit on the number of animals allowed; some have also included breed specific restrictions which add extra hardships to the family and the dogs. Many of these regulations are not made clear to families; the local dog pound is the place where most of these loyal companion animals wind up. They then become fatalities, unless a rescue steps up.
This is a terrible way to treat service persons and their families! They give so much to us-- can't we make their lives a little easier by not forcing them to give up the family dog?
