I moved about a year ago and almost immediately started to get copious amounts of junk mail.
I just found out that when I signed up for mail forwarding with the United States Post Office, they put my information in a database they sell to anyone willing to pay for it. There is no opt out option for this. I also found out that the credit bureaus do this as well (i.e. TransUnion, Experien, Equifax, etc.) I assume this is how Whitepages.com got everything down to my D.O.B. when I don't even have a home phone.
I want this to stop and I'm sure most Americans do as well. The optoutprescreen.com site does now work well enough.
My request is that when I give my address to any government agency or private business, they should not be allowed to sell my information at all.
