Across the United States, government agencies are denying privileges to secularists that are given to all other citizens. The constitution states that all people are created equal, and should be treated so. Sadly, America has never been very good at carrying out this testament.
Margaret Doughty, 64-year-old British woman, has been in the United States for over 30 years running adult literacy organizations and wanted to attain citizenship. When asked if she would willingly to take up arms she stated that her nonreligious upbringing forbids her from taking a life. The UCSIS responded by telling her that a conscientious objection must be based on religious grounds. (More on Doughty can be found here: goo.gl/ZH2Sn)
This discrimination of nonbelievers is intolerable and must be stopped.
