End liberal arts education

Created by C.P. on January 29, 2015

The cost of college education is high. Much of the cost and time spent on education is a result of the large number of unnecessary classes commonly called core classes. In Europe and elsewhere a bachelors education can be completed in 3-years. For states that do want you to take state history, government, communication, health, and art the burden for payment should be on the state government, not the student.

The presidents initiative on education that includes free community college is certainly interesting, but why do we need community colleges at all if an education can be focused on the field of study rather than an ever growing number of core requirements?
