End life tenure for Supreme Court Justices, enact a single ten-year term limit for all Supreme Court Justice appointees

Created by M.B. on February 27, 2013

The United States of America was not meant to be ruled from the bench by a judicial monarchy. The original intent of the framers to allow a Federal Judge to serve for life was to ensure that political opinion did not steer their rulings to match popular opinion. However, recent statements by some of the Supreme Court Justices have proven that they are also flawed human beings with preconceived notions who do not always separate their personal opinion from their apolitical duty. Therefore, we hereby petition the White House to put a bill before Congress that grants a single ten-year term to all Justices appointed to the Supreme Court. A term limit will ensure that the seated Justice will not have to succumb to the 24 hour news cycle because they would not be up for re-election. Please Sign.
