End life without the possibility of parole sentencing, especially where it applies to juvenile offenders.

Created by T.B. on February 03, 2016

End cruel (but not yet unusual) sentencing of life without the possibility of parole, especially where it applies to juvenile offenders and first time offenders. This is a sentence based off of vengeance- not Justice. The idea behind prison is to correct, reform, rehabilitate, but that doesn't happen in our prison systems. We lock them away, cause them to burden the state, and refuse to educate them (those who have short sentences or fewer days are eligible before those with LWOP). Long timers have the lowest recidivism rate, but have the least amount of luck getting out. Let them actually pay a debt to society. Let them pay taxes and support themselves. This should also be applied retroactively in an immediate attempt to ease over-crowding in our prison populations (Oklahoma is at 119%).
