The penny has almost zero buying power, and is a deadweight on the economy. It costs more to mint a penny than the penny is actually worth. No machines take them, and thus they are utterly useless. The nation would save a lot of money if pennies weren't minted. As for the price of goods, they should be rounded to the nearest 5 cents.
