Raw milk is a valuable food with a long history in human nutrition. While virtually any food can become contaminated with pathogens, raw milk is routinely singled out for its possible role in food-related illnesses all over the country. But the numbers don't add up. Far more people are sickened from contaminated meat and poultry products. On top of that, properly-produced raw milk has the ability to protect itself from bacterial contamination because it's a living food. It's time for the government to back out of the business of telling people what they can and can not eat. If people want to consume products with known ill-effects, such as alcohol or tobacco products, they are free to do so. Raw milk from grass-fed animals doesn't cause car accidents or cancer. Give raw milk back to us.
