End NCLB, End the Race to the Top and institute educational policy similar to the Finnish model with teacher input.

We need to stop the failed Corporate Reform policies that are failing our students. Use fact based models and have educators helping to form our policy. We need to stop treating education and our children as a commodity and put in place a system that will not create McStudents, but the future creative and critical thinkers to solve the problems we face. The challenges of this world are not multiple choice and we need to educate the whole child in order for them to be problem solvers. Deal with the very real issue of poverty and how it impacts education. A quality public education should not depend on zip code. Tests should only be used as assessments and not be the be all and end all of evaluating teachers, students, and schools. Teach our students how to think, not what to think.
