The greatest threat that our nation faces is caused by our own unsustainable resource use.
Our reliance on oil, coal, and natural gas to support everything from agriculture to transportation to basic health services utterly undermines our national security.
Even if we did have unlimited supply of these resources, it is extremely dangerous to use them. Global warming is already a factor in rampant natural disasters.
The government must lead this nation in transitioning to renewable energy sources, and to local systems of infrastructure. The President has a responsibility to acknowledge the dire emergency of resource depletion and climate change.
We must stop destroying the environment that we depend on for our own existence. It is an ethical imperative for the survival of our planet.
