With our current congress looking to reduce spending with entitlement reform, we need to end the pension program to all elected officials (congressmen and senators). Our founding fathers did not want representatives to make a career of public service. During their time in Congress, they become rich from special interest and PACs, so they don't need additional revenue spent on them. The longer they are in Congress, the less they are less concerned with issues important to their constituency back home. Maybe they would be more concerned with Social Security if they knew that was their pension program.
