End Plastic Pollution Of The Oceans

The Oceans are the lifeforce of planet Earth; without them there is no life. Humans are polluting the oceans at a staggering rate. Samples taken from the North Pacific Gyre reveal that plastic particles (which never biodegrade completely) currently outnumber plankton 6 to 1. More than 300 million tons of plastic are produced globally each year. Only 10% is recycled and 7 million tons ends up in our oceans. The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says marine debris 'has become one of the most pervasive pollution problems facing the world's oceans and waterways.' It is imperative we stop polluting our oceans and find ways to remove the plastic that has created a toxic soup decimating marine life. We can take responsibility and prevent plastic from harming our environment.
