The rise of easily and constantly available video recording devices (including smart phones) has resulted in the public being increasingly aware of the widely accepted behavior of law enforcement officers needlessly escalating to the use of deadly force. Despite this, these officers rarely (if ever) seem to be charged with murder in criminal cases. Despite their training, they are not being charged with crimes that an ordinary civilian would be found guilty of in minutes.
This must end! These clear cases (such as that of Antonio Zambrano-Montes) need to result in police officers being charged of murder. Only then will other LEO's understand that escalating a situation to deadly force will be judged harshly.
