We petition the White House to re-evaluate the regulation requiring electronic devices to be powered down during airplane takeoff and landing.
Electronic devices such as phones, tablets, e-readers, and laptops have become an indispensable part of modern society. They allow us to connect with each other and be productive at a level without precedent in human history.
The current FAA policy requiring the powering down of these devices during the takeoff and landing periods of airplane flights is without technical basis. Many airlines now let pilots use iPads to replace the flight manuals of their planes, so why should passengers be denied the same privilege.
It is merely through bureaucratic inertia that this archaic regulation remains in place. Free us from the forced perusal of SkyMall!
