End the practice of domain seizures without due process

Created by P.P. on February 17, 2012

I am concerned about the Obama Administration's practice of shutting down websites without notice, without giving a reason, and without a clear means for redress. It harms small businesses, and potentially even our freedom of speech!

Therefore, please:

1) State the policies the administration follows when seizing domains, and why they are compatible with the Constitution and US law

2) Always use the least disruptive means to accomplish law enforcement goals (e. g. request removal of content before seizing a site)

3) Tell website owners what they are being accused of, preferably prior to a seizure

4) Provide a swift and transparent process for disputing such accusations

5) Compensate website owners for lost business

6) Fire government employees or agents who abuse this process
