end the practice of lobbying for Microsoft in any country that announces a migration to free software.

Created by S.D. on October 30, 2011

The practice of lobbying on behalf of Microsoft is well documented. For example, Secretary of State Clinton recently coerced the government of Vietnam to abandon their plans to migrate to Linux on government workstations on behalf of Microsoft.

Allowing poorer countries to use Linux allows them to create their own software industry without dependence on the US. Free software is a matter of liberty, not price. So when I see the US lobbying any country to use Windows, I see that Liberty is not one of their interests.

Free software is about helping your neighbor, learning how to program and creating an industrial commons that creates jobs. A free idea will create more jobs than an idea encumbered with patents.
