In the US female circumcision is considered mutilation. Daily male infants are circumcised. There should be equal protection for males under the law. The practice of routine infant circumcision should be abandoned. Parents or legal guardians should not have the right to consent on behalf of an infant for an elective surgery that potentially could have negative effects that person for the rest of their lives. An exception to the abandonment of male circumcision would be in the case of religious ceremonies ex. Judaism.
