The United States Government, under George W. Bush, began programs to torture captives who were deemed to be terrorists and to assassinate people anywhere in the world, if they were on our list claiming that they were terrorists. In so doing, we violated the following amendments to the Constitution:
The Fourth: People are no longer "secure in their persons."
The Fifth: People are now "held to answer to a capital, or otherwise infamous crime" without Grand Jury indictment.
The Sixth: The accused terrorists do not have the right to "a speedy trial."
The Seventh: "The right of trial by jury" is not "preserved."
And the Eighth: "cruel and unusual punishments" are "inflicted."
The War on Terror is not a good enough excuse for assassination and torture.
