The major U.S. contact lens makers have set up a Unilateral Pricing Policy, forcing all retailers to have a price floor on their contact lenses. If retailers do not comply, these companies respond with the threat of no longer supplying them with their products. This ultimately hurts consumers and eliminates their options to shop around for better pricing through discount retailers. If this continues, there will be no competition in the contact lens industry, allowing contact lens makers to sell contact lenses at any price they see fit.
