end the printing of $1 bills, as it wastes $440 million of taxpayer money every year, and replace them with $1 coins.

Created by M.C. on November 29, 2012

The $1 bill costs $440 million to replace the circulation supply every year. Coins far outlast paper money, and are therefore far more economical in the long run. The current golden dollar is easier to use in vending machines than a bill, and at least half of the in service vending machines, laundromats, etc. are capable of using them.

To make this a success though, first the Anthony dollar needs to be demonitized and totally recalled. Then ALL vending machine mechanisms that are taken in for servicing or are new MUST be required to be returned to service with dollar coin capability. Then just stop printing the dollar bill and replace worn bills with coins, and let market attrition take care of the rest.

Congress won't act on this, but a second term President could via executive order.
