End the privatization of correctional facilities. Stop the practice of imprisoning people for profit.

Created by P.L. on January 29, 2013

It is time to end the practice of privatizing our prisons. Because they get paid per prisoner, privately managed prisons has given rise to the practice of lobbying for laws to place more people behind bars.

Organizations such as the American Legislative Exchange Council have successfully lobbied for laws that target immigrants, such as Arizona's SB1070, in order to get more people behind bars.

These prisoners are sold to the highest bidder, who in turn houses them at the lowest cost possible for the highest profit. Essentially selling people for money. Taxpayer money.

End this practice.
