end the production of incandescent light bulbs ONLY when a safe, non-mercury option becomes viable!

Created by J.H. on January 20, 2012

The path to a world without incandescent light bulbs is well on its way. CFLs have been sold as the solution. Until CFLs can be made without deadly materials like mercury they should be vehemently outlawed. We cannot afford to replace one problem with another. People will throw these in the garbage no matter what the instructions on the box say and the mercury contained will end up back in our food chain. The idea of replacing an inefficient item with an efficient one that is of itself environmentally dangerous is reprehensible and should not be even considered! I petition a ban on CFL, plus the further examination of technologies that will be more efficient and environmentally safe also. That is the point after all. Save energy AND the environment, for ourselves and future generations.
