Our Forefathers drafted the Constitution with one thought in mind; "of the people, and by the people". To protect this , it was written that there was to be no professional politicians.
Our political base cannot be of the people, when they live and rule above the people, exempt from our financial and earning guidelines, while they live on taxpayer paid exorbitant pensions, exempt from medical and retirement issues the people have to live under and are not affected by the laws or taxes they enact.
