End the removal of Native American Children from their Tribes especially in South Dakota.

Stop States' abuse of a system using incentives from federal money. At least 33 States are using federal money to take Native American Children from their homes. In 1978, Congress passed the Indian Child Welfare Act. It states "except in the most extreme circumstances, children must be placed with family or tribal members if they have to be removed from their homes." This is not happening. Most are sent to white or group homes.The states have a financial incentive to remove the children. The states receive thousands, even millions of dollars from the federal government as it takes children from a family, and in some cases states get even more money if the child is Native American and gets even more if adopted or special needs.
